The Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Canberra is seeking applications for the following vacancies

I. Position:- Driver

1.1 Number of Vacancies:- 1

The incumbents for this position serves as a driver to the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Canberra, driving vehicles of the Embassy and performing other duties as specified below. The appointment is for a contractual period of three (3) months. Individuals engaged are governed by the provisions of the Embassy Staff Regulations and General Conditions.

1.4 Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall authority of the Ambassador and under the immediate supervision of the Administration and Finance Officer, the driver performs the following duties:

Serve as a driver/messenger to the Embassy, driving vehicles assigned to the Office. Such a task should be undertaken in accordance with traffic laws and regulations.

Keep the assigned vehicle (s) in clean condition and carry out daily routine maintenance checks on the vehicle/s to establish to his/her satisfaction that it is roadworthy and make recommendations concerning repair and service. Such checks should focus but not limited to �oil, water, battery, lights, brakes, tyres, communication system, etc.

Maintain the vehicle logs in accordance with established administrative procedures of the Embassy.

Perform such tasks as collecting and delivering documents and materials; escorts and receives Embassy staff and guests to and from Airports.

Provide photocopying and small administrative services to the Office as may be required.

Driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items

Demonstrates a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with a diversity of people and clients.

Perform any other duties as requested by the office.

1.5 Qualifications, experience and skills

1.5.1 Education:

Secondary school education or equivalent, with Valid Driver's license and very good knowledge of driving rules, regulations and courtesies.

1.5.2 Experience and skills:

2 years of work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair. Good knowledge of the English Language both in speaking and writing.

1.6 Salary:- As per the scale of the Embassy.

II. POSITION: COOK AND HOUSE-KEEPING ASSISTANT

2.1 Number of vacancies:-

2.2 OPENING DATE: 6 January 2020

2.3 CLOSING DATE: 16 January 2019

2.4 BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

The incumbent is required to cook and clean in the Ambassador's Residence from Monday through Friday. He/she is expected to cook meals for the Ambassador's family daily and big meals for guests occasionally. Cleaning consists of washing dishes, dusting, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming. The appointment is for a contractual period of three (3) months with possibilities of extension.

2.5 QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

A) Work experience:

A minimum of 6 months of any cooking experience is required.

B) Language requirements:

A good level of English (Speaking/Reading) is a must.

C) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be able to cook and have enough knowledge of the kitchen;

Must be customer service oriented;

Must be organized and able to work independently;

D) Salary:- As per the scale of the Embassy

NOTES:
