The 40th Anniversary of Ethio-Cuban Relations Marked

Addis Ababa The historical relation between Ethiopia and Cuba has set a model for other nations, Ethio-Cuban Friendship Association disclosed.

The 40th Anniversary of Ethio-Cuban friendship and diplomatic relation is being marked in Addis Ababa with various events from October 10 to 15th.

Cuba has provided military support in the wake of the invasion of the irredentist Somali forces on Ethiopia on the top of scholarship opportunities to Ethiopian youth, it was learned.

Speaking on the opening session of the occasion to celebrate the anniversary, Abebe Ayalew, Chairman of the Ethio-Cuban Friendship Association said the relationship between the two countries is cemented in blood and sets an example for other countries.

Nebiyat Getachew, Director of America's Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the current people to people relation between the two countries was instrumental in strengthening the comprehensive relations between the two countries.

He added that the ongoing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the health, education and science and technology sectors will be strengthened over the coming years.

Apart from Ethiopia, Cuba occupies a special position in providing military and educational scholarships for a number of African countries, it was indicated.
