NEBE, Political Parties Discuss Election Preparations and Challenges

Addis Ababa March 3/2021 (ENA) The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia and political parties discussed today the preparations and challenges both sides are facing during the preparation of the 6th General Election.

During the meeting, Electoral Board Chairperson Birtukan Mideksa said the board has prepared free data collection and SMS centers for collecting questions related to candidates registration, voters registration and other complaints related to election.

She urged the political parties to complete registration of their representatives in all polling stations before the deadline.

According to her, only 15 political parties are registered to take part in the election and got  registered about 2,000 candidates.

As the final day of the candidates registration is tomorrow, some political parties have asked for extension.

Some representatives of competing parties blamed the lower echelon of the ruling party for harassing their members in different localities.

The chairperson called on parties that have complaints related to election promptly and the Board will take corrective measures.
