LITHUANIA WANTS TO CO-OPERATE WITH ETHIOPIA IN TOURISM SECTOR

ADDIS ABABA, May 20 — Lithuania wants to collaborate with Ethiopia in the tourism sector, says its Foreign Minister, Lians Linkevicius, who is on a visit to this Horn of Africa nation.

During his discussion with the spokesperson of the House of People’s Representatives, Abadula Gemeda, the minister said Ethiopia had many Unesco-registered touristic attractions and his government was ready to collaborate with Ethiopia in creating a favourable environment for tourists and boosting the tourism industry.

In this respect, he said, Lithuanians who want to visit Ethiopia have been encountering problems obtaining visas for the travel.

Linkevicius said he would also work to improve relations between the two countries as currently, trade and investment exchanges between the two countries were at very low levels.

Abadula said it was the first time he had heard about problems relating to visas and promised to solve the problem.

Abadula assured the minister that Ethiopia was always ready to establish friendship based on mutual benefits, further appreciating Lithuania’s initiative. He said Ethiopia was also desirous of improving ties with Lithuania.

The Lithuanian minister is on his first official visit to Ethiopia.
