KSA Awards Highest Medal to Ethiopian Prime Minister, Eritrean President

Addis Ababa Kingdom of Saudi Arabia awards the highest medal in the Kingdom to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Eritrean President Isais Afeworki for bringing peace between the two countries.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki are both in the Saudi city of Jeddah, for tripartite summit.

The award is in recognition of the efforts made by the leaders to end the two decade hostilities between Ethiopia and Eritrea and open a new era for cooperation.

Saudi's King Salman has awarded the medal in the presence of UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres and praised their efforts to bring about peace, security and stability, having worked together to end the conflict between the two countries.

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also expressed its appreciation to Ethiopia and Eritrea for the commitment to end the 20 years of dispute peacefully.

Meanwhile, Ethiopia and Eritrea have agreed to work in cooperation in the fields of trade, logistics and port development on the top of creating common economic zone.

The agreement will help to foster the existing bilateral relations created between the two countries, it was learned.

It was recalled that Prime Minister Abiy and President Isaias were discussed on port and infrastructure development and general logistics services on their meeting in United Arab Emirate last month.
