ADDIS ABABA--Israel will strengthen co-operation with Ethiopia in the health, education and irrigation development sectors, says the country's ambassador, Raphael Morav.
The ambassador, who inaugurated a 700,000 Birr (about 25,400 US dollars) dental diagnostic x-ray device at the Gondar University Specialized Hospital donated by an Israeli charity organization here Wednesday, said Israel and Ethiopia had a long-standing friendship and development co-operation.
He noted that the two countries had signed various agreements at different times to further boost the relationship.
Morav said Israel had been supporting Ethiopia to improve its agriculture production by utilizing water resources and sharing experiences in agriculture and irrigation. An Israeli medical team had also provided free cardiac surgery for more than 500 patients at the Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa.
Israel has also supported the expansion of capacity of the sector through the provision of specialization programs and training for medical students and skilled trainees. Israel will continue to strengthen its support for the sustainable economic growth of Ethiopia by enabling knowledge and skills transfer in science and technology, the ambassador said.
