ETHIOPIN F.M. SAYS STRTAEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH DJIBOUTI TO BE CONSOLIDATED

ADDIS ABABA-- Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Workneh Gebeyehu has declared that the strategic partnership which Ethiopia and neighbouring Djibouti have been enjoying for the past several years will be consolidated.

Workneh, who is in Djibouti on a working visit, told the media there on Tuesday that the strategic partnership between the two countries would not be affect by different situations.

Workneh expressed condolences over the killing of a Djibouti citizen in the Ethiopian city of Dire Dawa. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has already sent a message of condolence to President Ismail Omar Ghuelleh.

The incident does not represent the overall relationship between the two peoples," the Foreign Minister said, adding that individuals suspected of committing the crime were being investigated and would be brought before the court.

The foreign minister is expected to meet with senior officials of the country during his visit to Djibouti, which for the past decades provided land-locked Ethiopia with access to the sea. Djibouti port has been handling most of Ethiopia's imports and exports for many years.
