ADDIS ABABA, March 20 — Ethiopian export-oriented enterprises have taken part in international exhibitions and trade fairs to display their products overseas, according to the Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervising Agency.

The agency’s Corporate Communications Director, Wondafrash Assefa, told the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) here Thursday that the participation of these enterprises in the overseas exhibitions and trade fairs would hep enhance the country’s export trade.

The exporters took part in exhibitions and trade fairs in Sweden, the United States and Canada in order to find new markets and establish overseas marketing networks, he said.

He disclosed that the public enterprises which exported their products were Ethiopian Mineral Development Share Company, Ethiopian Fruits and Vegetable Marketing Share Company, Bahirdar and Kombolcha Textile factories and National Alcohol and Liquor Factory.

Ethiopian Mineral Development Share Company General Manager Dr. Zerihun Desta said more than five million US dollars were earned from the export of 71 tons of tantalum to the US and China during the first half of the current Ethiopian fiscal year.

The chief executive officer of the Ethiopian Fruits and Vegetable Marketing Share Company, Mengistu Kebede, said the company earned more than 537,000 USD from the export of about 10,000 quintals (1,000 tonnes) of its products during the past six months
