ADDIS ABABA, April 23 — The deepening of Ethio-Sudanese relations is contributing to the strengthening of the economic ties of the two countries, the Ethiopian Investment Agency said.

The Agency held Wednesday discussion with Sudanese investors in Addis Ababa to confer on the problems and solutions in the sector.

Agency Director General Fitsum Arega said economic bondage of the two countries has been growing fast as the relationship of Ethiopia and Sudan is better than those of other countries.

Sudanese Ambassador in Ethiopia Abdurahman Salahadin on his part said the relation of the two countries should practically grow to economic integration.

The countries can mutually benefit from economic integration as they have plenty of natural resources, he added.

Among the challenges raised during the consultations by the Ethiopian side was the desire of Sudanese investors to operate in areas restricted to Ethiopians, failure to meet the minimum required capital and delay in implementation.

Sudanese businesspersons on their part cited scarcity of land, provision of infrastructure, and poor service as obstacles.

Sudan is the second country after China among the top ten countries that have foreign direct investment projects, in Ethiopia, it was learnt.
