Ethiopia Plays Significant Contribution to Dev’t of FOCAC: Chinese Ambassador

Addis Ababa Ethiopia has made significant contribution to the development of the Forum on China- Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), Chinese Ambassador said.

In a press conference he gave here today on the upcoming forum, Ambassador Tan Jain said Ethiopia has played a crucial role to the development of the mechanism.

Ethiopia has made significant contribution to the development of the mechanism Forum on China- Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and to the unity and cooperation between China and Africa, he said.

The Ambassador has also noted that Ethiopia has become a pilot and exemplary country for China Africa cooperation in industry production and road initiative.

We have witnessed early harvest of our cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, like the Ethio-Djibouti Railway, a land mark project. We will continue to join hands to maintain the momentum and Further bring it to a new height, he indicated.

Noting that the summit will be the largest diplomatic forum in terms volume and number of participants, the Ambassador said it will accelerate diplomacy and shared interests.

The summit promotes friendly cooperation in a holistic way and addressing global challenges in active manner. The forthcoming summit is inherently significant to accelerating diplomacy, actualizing the principle of sincerity, real result by pursuing shared interests, he stated.

He added the Beijing summit will usher in a new era for better synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and Africa's development vision.

As the historic and geographical extension as well as important direction for the Belt and Road Initiative in the greatest continent of Africa, many countries have expressed their strong aspiration for participating in the international cooperation on the initiative, ambassador pointed out.

The Forum on China- Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) will be convened in Beijing from September 3 to 4 which anticipated providing a valuable forum for African and Chinese bilateral cooperation.
