Attorney General to Charge Suspects with Grenade Attack at Rally

Addis Ababa The Federal Attorney General disclosed today that it will charge two additional suspected individuals with involvement in the grenade attack on June 23, 2018 at rally attended by PM Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa.

The suspects are Beyene Ruda and Abdisa Megerssa, it added.

The Federal Attorney General, however, requested the court for additional 14 days to compile vital evidences by pointing out the complexity of the case.

The court allowed 7 additional days of the requested 14.

Meanwhile, additional 7 days were requested to further investigate Tesfaye Urge, Anti-Terror Taskforce Coordination Department Head, accused of carrying similar crime.

The court ordered the police to finalize the investigation by August 15, 2018.

It is to be recalled that Abdisa Kenene, Desalegn Tesfaye, Getu Girma, Bahiru Tola, and Hiwot Geda were earlier charged with taking part in the grenade attack that caused the death of two people and wounded more than 150 at the rally held in support of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's reform.
