Staring Friends

Ethiopia and Germany have a history of longstanding diplomatic relation which can be traced back to 1905. In this relation that has seen its fair share of ups and down, The Federal Republic of Germany has become a reliable partner for the east African country, especially as a source of support in technological transfer in urban construction.

The republic’s Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, PhD, arrived in Addis Ababa on March 24 for a one day-long official visit at the start of a three-nation African tour which includes Tanzania and Angola. During his stay the foreign minister held talks with his Ethiopian counterpart Tedros Adhanom (PhD), who referred him as a close friend, on a variety of mutual and regional issues.
